Wagga Wagga is a major regional city located in the Riverina. Wagga Wagga is the halfway point between Sydney and Melbourne, with the Murrumbidgee River on its doorstep.

Wagga Wagga Community

Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal community controlled primary health care service. Its primary purpose is to provide culturally safe holistic health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Wagga Wagga and surrounding areas.

Ngurra Hub Ashmont hosts weekly social and wellbeing activities for the community such as Sewing Group, Women's Group, Mum's and Bub's Group and more. Weekly Support programs that operate from Ngurra Hub include the Triple P Parenting Program, Australian College of Higher Education, Riverina Medical and Dental Mental Health team. Outreach services that attend Ngurra Hub include Centrelink, Housing NSW, Youth Justice.

Other services and centres include the Aboriginal Legal Service, Australian Unity, Wagga Wagga AECG, Holland Neighbourhood Centre and Kooringal Neighbourhood Centre.

Wollundry Lagoon & Tony Ireland Park, Wiradjuri Reserve & Gobba Beach, Bomen Lagoon, Bomen Axe Quarry and Flowerdale Lagoon have all been declared Aboriginal Places by the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) in the Wagga Wagga area.

The word Wagga Wagga comes from the Wiradyuri word Waga meaning a place to dance. Waga Waga, meaning a place of dance, place of celebration.
