Albury

Albury is located at the base of NSW on the VIC border neighbouring Wodonga. Albury Wodonga is referred to as the 'Two Cities, One Community'. The Murray River running between this one community.

Albury Community

Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service provides care and assistance in the health field to community and has done so for almost 20 years. The service offers dental, medical, allied health, drug & alcohol, social, emotional wellbeing and cultural programs for men, women & youth.

Woomera Aboriginal Corporation is a community based not-for-profit organisation founded in 1990 that offers a range of housing, early education, out of home care and targeted early intervention services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in Albury and surrounds.

​

Albury and District Local Aboriginal Land Council seeks to promote and protect the cultural values of the Aboriginal community of Albury.

​

Albury as a resettlement area has many tribes located within such as Wiradjuri, Barkinji, Yorta Yorta, Bundjalung, Dhudoroa and Pitinjarra to name just a few. There are many families where generations of their mob have resided in Albury and surrounds proving a close relationship with this area and its people.

Mungabareena Aboriginal Place, East Albury was handed back to the Aboriginal community in 2018. Now an active management committee, including Elders and Albury and District LALC are bettering and maintaining the area. Dual language signage can be seen whilst also making it more accessible to the Aboriginal community.

The Yindyamarra Scuplture walk consists of 11 kms of trail beside the Murray river. Wiradjuri language being implemented on NBN boxes across the city with art and local language implemented in local community centres.
