Griffith Community
Griffith Aboriginal Land Council has worked to reclaim crown land and return it to the local Aboriginal community, in order for them to reconnect with and care for Wiradjuri country. The Griffith LALC continues to develop strong networking relationships with Government organisations to create better education and employment outcomes for the local Aboriginal community. The Griffith LALC progressing with the DPIE Roads to Home infrastructure Development Application regarding civil infrastructure upgrades Threeways Aboriginal Reserve.

Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service which provides services to both Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal Clientele. It is a primary health care service initiated and operated by the local Aboriginal community to deliver holistic, comprehensive, and culturally appropriate health care to the community which controls it through a locally elected Board of Management. In July 2001, the first Chief Executive Officer of the GAMS commenced duties. It was not until May 2004, that the service received funding from the Department of Health & Ageing. Initial funding was to employ a Practice Administrator, General Practitioner and part time Finance Officer. The service now employs around 56 FTE staff, delivering a range of services to the Indigenous community of Griffith and surrounding areas as well as to non-Indigenous members of these communities with over 10,000 clients on our records. GAMS covers an area that incorporates Hay, Hillston, Lake Cargelligo, Murrin Bridge, Leeton, Narrandera and Darlington Point, with another health service located at Lake Cargelligo/Murrin Bridge.

Griffith Wiradjuri Aboriginal Preschool is an Aboriginal based preschool, focusing on developing children's learning and getting the children ready for Primary School. The age groups range from 3 to 5 year olds. The preschool is 60 years old with the first site opening in November 1964 at the 'Save the Children Fund Hall' on the Three Ways Reserve, later then moving to the current site.

Dyirri Bang Gu Aboriginal Aged Care Service aims to help local Elders maintain independence in their own homes. The service provides assistance & support such as personal care, preparation of meals, laundry, housework, transport (medical/shopping) & social activities.

Marrambidya Dance Group Aboriginal Corporation is made up of Indigenous youth from Griffith, NSW & surrounding areas. Through their traditional dances, they tell the stories of their Ancestors, Land & Culture. Marrambidya offer a range of services that can be tailored to your event:

Griffith also boasts the following Aboriginal organisations, groups and services such as Aboriginal Legal Service, Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and Griffith Aboriginal Community Working Party.

Many members of our community are Wiradjuri people. The Aboriginal community of Griffith descended to this area following seasonal work from communities such as Cowra, Condobolin, Darlington Point with many descendants from ancestors born at Warangesda. Other nations residing here originate from surrounding language groups such as Yorta Yorta people, Ngiyampaa people and Paakantji people.
